Thank you to the entire Atholton Community for making teachers and staff feel extra special during Teacher Appreciation Week. We loved all the notes, flowers, sweet treats, and the delicious lunch on Thursday. PTA’s Staff Appreciation Committee went above and beyond in in recognizing all our Super Heroes!

PTA 5K and 1 Mile Fun Walk/Run

Register now to participate in the AES 5K and 1 Mile Walk/Run on Sunday, June 5 th starting at 9 am. In order to receive a t-shirt, registrations need to be submitted by May 13 th. Registration forms are below, including a family or adult waiver form. HCPSS Summer School

HCPSS offers a variety of summer classes for students. Register at www.hcpss.org/summer. Registration will continue until all classes are filled. However, the last day to register for the Comprehensive K-9 and BASAP Programs is June 24 th.

G/T Parent Academy

Parents of primary aged children are invited to attend the G/T Parent Academy at Northfield Elementary on Thursday, May 12 th from 7-8:30 pm. The presentation will focus on the use of picture books to generate and inspire philosophical thinking and discussion, creativity and problem solving, and real critical thinking.

AES School Fundraiser

Last week in Friday Folders you received a packet with information about a school fundraiser. Please consider registering today. Completed envelopes should be returned to your child’s homeroom teacher. Students will receive a watch when the completed envelope is returned.

Hammond High School- 3rd Annual Green Fest

Saturday, April 16th from 10AM to 2PM There will be fun for the whole family and all ages! Home Depot will have items for kids to build, Scales and Tales will be bringing animals for shows at 11:00am and 12:00pm, and various local organizations will be present. There will be prizes and a raffle. We are collecting dried out markers…

Box Tops

The next (and final) due date for Box Tops is May 13 th. Please support AES and clip those box tops. The class with the largest number will win a prize.

Citizen Science Opportunities for Students and their Families

As we get into the spring season there are a variety of citizen science programs you and your students can participate in to identify local amphibians that are coming out of hiding. 5th Grade Simulated Congressional Hearings (SCH)

Our 5 th graders will have their SCH Kick-Off on Friday, April 22 nd. All parent coaches who signed up to assist should plan to attend a training following the Kick-Off at 3:15 in the cafeteria. The Hearings will take place on May 25 th.
